Spiceful's meal planner helps you schedule recipes for the week ahead. Add recipes to specific days and meal times, navigate between weeks, and adjust your plan as needed.
Add recipes to your meal plan
Schedule recipes on specific days and meal times to plan your week.
When you'd use this
- You want to organize what you'll cook each day
- You're meal prepping for the week
- You want to ensure you have variety in your meals
How it works
On web:
- Go to the Meal Plan page
- Find the day and meal time you want to plan (e.g., Monday Dinner)
- Click the + Add button or empty meal slot
- Search for or select a recipe from your collection
- Click to add it to that time slot
- The recipe appears in your meal plan
On mobile:
- Tap the Meal Plan tab
- Navigate to the day you want to plan
- Tap the meal time (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner)
- Search for or select a recipe
- Tap to add it
- The recipe appears in your plan
Tips
- You can add multiple recipes to the same meal time
- Add recipes for the full week to make grocery shopping easier
- Most people plan 3-7 days ahead
Navigate the week view
See your planned meals for the entire week at a glance and navigate between weeks.
The week view
Your meal plan shows:
- Current week by default (Monday through Sunday)
- Three meal times per day: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
- Recipe cards showing what's planned for each meal
- Empty slots where you can add new recipes
How to navigate
On web:
- Click Previous Week or Next Week arrows at the top
- Or click a specific date to jump to that week
- Return to current week with This Week button
On mobile:
- Swipe left or right to move between weeks
- Or tap the date picker to jump to a specific week
- Tap Today to return to the current week
Tips
- Plan ahead by navigating to future weeks
- You can plan as far in advance as you like
- Past weeks remain visible so you can see what you cooked
Remove or move planned meals
Change your plans? Remove recipes from your meal plan or move them to different days or meal times.
Remove a planned meal
On web:
- Find the recipe in your meal plan
- Hover over the recipe card
- Click the X or remove icon
- The recipe is removed from that time slot
On mobile:
- Find the recipe in your meal plan
- Tap and hold (long-press) the recipe card
- Tap Remove from the menu
- Or swipe left on the recipe and tap Remove
Move a planned meal
On web:
- Click and drag the recipe card
- Drop it on a different day/meal time
- The recipe moves to the new slot
On mobile:
- Tap and hold the recipe card
- Choose Move from the menu
- Select the new day and meal time
- Tap Move to confirm
Alternatively:
- Remove the recipe from its current slot
- Add it to the new slot manually
Tips
- Moving meals is great when plans change or you swap cooking days
- Removing a meal doesn't delete the recipe from your collection—just from the plan
- You can always add it back later
Common uses and tips
Weekly meal prep
- On Sunday (or your planning day), navigate to the upcoming week
- Add dinners for Monday through Friday
- Use Add groceries from your meal plan to create your shopping list
- Shop once for the whole week
Flexible planning
- Plan only what you know for sure (e.g., Monday and Tuesday)
- Leave other days open for flexibility
- Add meals as you decide throughout the week
Meal rotation
- Keep a list of favorite weeknight recipes
- Rotate them through your meal plan
- Use Rate and favorite recipes to find them quickly
Common issues
Can't add a recipe to meal plan
- Make sure the recipe is saved in your collection first
- Check that you're clicking the correct meal slot
Recipe not showing in meal plan after adding
- Refresh the page or app
- Make sure you confirmed the addition (didn't just preview it)
Accidentally deleted a planned meal
- Navigate back to the meal slot and add the recipe again
- Check your recipe collection—the recipe itself is still there
Meal plan looks cluttered
- Use Remove planned meals to clear out old entries
- Consider planning only the next few days instead of multiple weeks
Want to duplicate a day's meals
- Currently there's no "duplicate day" feature
- Manually add the same recipes to another day
